Project Title: PREMONITION-Enhanced Entomological Monitoring in Tanzania

Project Description: The Challenge: Malaria elimination is an important goal for most national malaria programs but its proper implementation remains challenging even in countries where the burden has been brought to very low levels. in Sub-Saharan African indoor insecticidal interventions, notably insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and indoor-residual spraying (IRS) have been widely, resulting in significant reduction in malaria burden. The Challenge: Malaria elimination is an important goal for most national malaria programs but its proper implementation remains challenging even in countries where the burden has been brought to very low levels. in Sub-Saharan African indoor insecticidal interventions, notably insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and indoor-residual spraying (IRS) have been widely, resulting in significant reduction in malaria burden. However, residual malaria transmission persists in most places, compounded by the ever-evolving patterns of insecticides and behavioral resistance in the dominant malaria vector populations. Unfortunately, without proper surveillance system, mapping and quantifying the extent of these challenges has been difficult to achieve, thus hindering further progress and planning. Entomological monitoring is integral to these initiatives, but large-scale mosquito surveillance programs have been particularly challenging due to inefficient trapping system, high cost and inaccessibility of some areas. This is compounded by weakness in data management and limitations of associated combining genomic and phenotypic data on malaria transmission
